Mr. Sprake joined Pringle Peterson MacDonald & Bottos in 2004 after completing his articles and being called to the Alberta bar.
He earned his Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Alberta, concentrating on courses in Criminal Law. During law school Mr. Sprake was selected to represent the University of Alberta in the Alberta Cup and Sopinka Cup National Criminal Trial Advocacy Moot competitions.
As a law student Mr. Sprake was very active in Student Legal Services, an organization, which provides free legal information and representation to Edmonton's impoverished community, becoming the Coordinator for the Criminal Law Project. Mr. Sprake continues to volunteer with Student Legal Services and now serves as the Chairperson for the S.L.S. Board of Directors.
Mr. Sprake has focused his practice on criminal defence work and has represented individuals in the Provincial Court, the Court of Queen's Bench and the Court of Appeal. He has experience in various types of criminal law cases including murder, manslaughter, sexual assault, drug trafficking, assault and impaired driving causing death. Mr. Sprake has been successful in other quasi-criminal areas of the law as well, working on cases involving the Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act and the Traffic Safety Act.
